Wellspect HealthCare offers a wide portfolio of different products within the area of healthcare. The packaging system must fulfill high technical requirements in order to protect the products from different external conditions that could damage the product's function and also affect its cleanliness. Wellspect HealthCare has issued guidelines for environment, health and safety in compliance with the packaging directive in order to minimise the negative environmental effect of its packaging. Packaging should be efficient (minimum packaging material).
During the design phase of a new packaging system, we aim to:
Minimise the amount of packaging material.
Monitor that the quantity of heavy metals does not exceed the limit value.
Minimise the amount of hazardous substances.
Ensure that the packaging can be recovered through either material recycling, energy recovery or composting.
In Sweden, we work with FTI, the industry’s system for recycling of packaging dispatched in Sweden. In Germany, we work with the local DUALES die Grüne Punkt system in a similar way. We report according to the Swedish packaging law 2013:757, which implements the directives from that of the EC (1994/62/EG).
