Pelvic floor dysfunction is common and affects both the bladder and the bowel resulting in symptoms like urinary and/or fecal incontinence, urgency, voiding dysfunction, incomplete emptying of the bladder and bowel, and constipation.

Child birth and pregnancy is often talked about as the most common cause of pelvic floor dysfunction, but there are several other causes as well that need to be considered. Management options of pelvic floor symptoms include intermittent catheterization and transanal irrigation.
