XYou will need to use a catheter to wee if you are not able to do a wee by yourself because you are injured, or you have a condition which means you’re not able to do a wee in the normal way.
A catheter is a little tube which you can put into your bladder when you need to do a wee and it will get the wee out for you.
When you see your nurse or doctor they will be able to talk to you all about using a catheter and they will be able to show you how to use one to wee. They will also talk to you about how many times a day you need to do a wee with your catheter, this is different for everyone and they will work out a special plan just for you. You can help them do this and tell them the best times for you, like school breaks or the time you get home from school.
Your doctor or nurse will be an expert in weeing with a catheter and they will be able to tell you what to do. They will help you to learn to wee with a catheter, so you will be an expert too!
Don’t be shy about asking them lots of questions about weeing, no question is too weird or crazy and they will be sure to know the answer.
